Self-Care Redefined: Strategies for Nurturing Mental Wellness

Self-care is something we hear a lot about, but it generally all gets lumped into a single bucket filled with suggestions for more manicures, bubble baths and massages.

And while they ARE great, there are a lot of other things that we can do that nurture our mental well-being as a form of self-care.

I had the fortunate opportunity to share my thoughts in an interview for Authority Magazine. Read my Top 5 Tips for Self-Care and Mental Wellness.

In this interview we talk about-

  • Power of knowing yourself to make personalized self-care choices

  • How self-care impacts our mental wellness

  • The blocks that prevent us from making better self-care choices

  • And includes a mini pep-talk for anyone who needs a nudge to prioritize their self-care for mental well-being

How Do You Take Care of Yourself?

Do you know the specific things that contribute to your self-care?

Not the things they tell you you need, but the things that really restore your specific needs?

Mental well-being is just one slice of the pie.

Take a moment to write out a list of things that fall into each of these buckets-

  • Emotional well-being

  • Physical well-being

  • Support and relationships

  • Environmental support

  • Nutritional wellness

A simple way to help draw these things out is to create more/less lists. Noticing what you want or need more or less of in your life to feel nourished, replenished and supported in different areas of you life.

For a real deep dive, check out my More/Less List Magic guide.

The printable workbook guides you through looking at your life through different lenses. With these different perspectives we can more easily see our needs and blocks and help you come up with a plan on how to put these 'aha moments' into action.

Self-Reflection

Journaling is one of the ways that I can get to the answers my heart is yearning for me to know. Use these journal prompts to open up the conversation with you inner knowing. Ask yourself-

  • How can I support my mental well-being today?

  • How can I tweak my self-care habits to better support my mental well-being?

  • How personalized are my self-care habits to what I truly need to feel nurtured and cared for?

Taking a few moments to put down your phone, step away from distractions and tune into your inner self will do wonders for reorienting your actions to lead you toward a life that truly lights you up.

I hope that you after reading the article about self-care tips for mental well-being, it inspires you to put some of these tips into action this week.

And that you take the next step into personalizing your self-care needs by truly naming what you need more and less of in your life.

Here's to honoring the needs of our mind, body and spirit!
