Know Yourself

These past two weeks spring is in the air and it feels like a great time to let our inner light shine. You are your longest companion, yet we don’t fully know what makes us light up. How often do you take a look within yourself, open yourself up to moments of enlightenment, facing potentially difficult realizations and feelings? Knowing yourself better, taking action toward your goals, your passions, showing up for yourself every day is how you grow your glow.

As I encourage you this week to know yourself better, I wanted you to know me a little better too, to let you know part of what makes me shine.


👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 I’m a mom of two young boys and married to a man who stole my heart with his dance moves


✋ We live in the Detroit area of Michigan & lived in 4 different states growing up


🏫 We are homeschooling our oldest and enjoying making learning fun (usually) and learning so much myself


⚡️ Each day I move my body to hit my Apple Watch fitness goals (460+ day streak) and my mental health thanks me for it


🪂 The craziest thing I’ve ever done (twice) is go skydiving in Hawaii


☕️ My favorite show is Gilmore Girls and Stars Hollow is my favorite TV place to escape to (maybe because I used to live in CT)


✍️ I dream of writing a novel or non-fiction book someday and working on setting up a writing habit to make that dream come true


🤸‍♀️ My inner child is just itching to get out and play, so I’m being more deliberate about setting up play dates with myself

Just because I know myself enough to this point, doesn't mean I'm done or that there aren't roadblocks. Sometimes when you have a hard time getting past go, getting going, little excuses and distractions hold you back from knowing yourself better, taking action toward living a radiant life. Don't let these What-ifs, Coulda, Shouldas derail you. Take action on something, anything, that will lead you further down the path of growth.

 
 

So what are some ways you can take action and now yourself better?

  • Use 2 minutes to write out possible ideas, just dumping them all out on paper

  • Take a walk and move that beautiful body of yours and see what inspired action you feel like taking next

  • Use the classic enneagram test to learn more about yourself and your core motivations (I LOVE to talk enneagram, just wait)

  • Journal about a fear you have to release its hold on your mind

  • Reflect on a tidbit about yourself and untangle that belief down to the root issue (see me and tapas)

  • Pick something on your to do list that you've been avoiding and DO THE THING!

  • Plan a playdate with yourself!

  • Check out or buy a new book that will help inspire you or teach you something

  • Say yes (or even an enthusiastic why not) to opportunities that sound like fun (This movie looks like some good YES inspiration)
