Every day, I like to celebrate what’s gone well (or just better than expected). Keeping track of the little everyday magic YAY moments so that the don’t blend in with the blur of mom life.

This was inspired by listening to the How To Be Awesome At Your Job podcast, episode 786, and they are taking about growing and improving relationships. (Apple Podcasts, Spotify)

And a key factor is listening to and celebrating what’s going well for them. Essentially, what’s their YAY of the day. This goes for any level of relationship, spouse, child, co-worker. Being present and really asking and listening, and then celebrating their yay with them. A verbal or actual high five, happy dance or encouraging comment to help both of you share in whatever yay they are feeling.

However I think what’s most important is first recognizing those YAYs for ourselves.

  • feeling good about how you showed up

  • keeping track of signs of growth

  • noticing where something worked out for you

Taking stock of the multiple yays you feel in a day, especially as you cultivate a growth mindset, and celebrating each of them with yourself will help you shift toward a growth mindset and help you feel happier about life. Because it’s all about what you focus on.

Our days are so full, that it’s easy to forget to pause and just notice even a small yay, every day. And they get forgotten when the next wave of busy or overwhelm crashes in.

To make it easy for you, I created a free printable start the simple habit of keeping track of your daily YAY. It’s like a one moment, one sentence YAY tracker.

Tell me something good! What’s your YAY?

And then pay it forward- ask someone in your life that they are YAYing and give them a little cheer! And then encourage them to make note of it in their journal or on their own free printable Daily YAY tracker.
