5 Non-Fiction Books for Your Personal Growth Journey

Are you like me? A total book lover by nature.  I remember in junior high making a trip with my mom to Waldenbooks (RIP) and buying the latest Baby-Sitters Club book each month.  And when I used to travel for work, wandering through the airport bookstore was a favorite place to pass the time.  Somehow the potential of going to new places by air and in my mind was a new level of intoxication.

Maybe this explains my love of Gilmore girls. Rory Gilmore knows how to appreciate a good book!

So, it was only fitting that when I was a little stuck in life and not feeling the magic at the intersection of motherhood, career and my life dreams, I explored the world of books.  Over several months, I made my way through a whole stack of books from a range of categories. And in true Rory Gilmore type fashion, I wrote down notes and insights that were mini ‘aha’ moments and thoughts to reflect on.  Pulling these tidbits together really helped me know myself better and got me closer to knowing my WHY, my deeper soul-driven purpose for this lifetime.

Book Lovers are the Best

Maybe you’ve wandered through a bookstore or scrolled online, looking for a title that draws you in.  I know I did that.  My bookshelf is FULL of books I’ve purchased and countless others I borrowed from the library, all holding a nugget or two of things that I needed to hear. As a way to help you with your journey, I curated a list of the best personal growth books for revealing your personal why and made the most impact in mine.  In addition, I wrote out a summary of why each one played a role in shining a light into where am I going in life and my biggest takeaways.

  • asking the one simple question when setting priorities and how mindset affects all aspects of my life

  • a freeing way to clear my head and make space for thoughts and connections to happen

  • the personality profile that was like a cheat-code to having a deeper knowing about my fears and motivations

  • how money blocks are subconsciously holding me back from making changes

  • permission to tap into my inner creative magic

Your time feels limited, so I’m sharing the biggest ‘aha’ moments I had when reading these non-fiction books and will help you anticipate what you can get out of reading it yourself.  And will save you time from reading a book that just doesn’t connect with you.
