Rethink your to-do list
Do you feel like you have 10,000 things on your to do list?
Between the day to day family stuff, work tasks, personal needs and bucket list desires, the list can feel overwhelming.
One thing I’ve learned to lean into is to pay attention to my energy and mindset.
It could also be thought of as creative procrastination or following the path of least resistance.
Realizing that everything you need to get done has an ideal mindset or mood to complete it.
That there is a time and place for everything.
So why not make our to-do lists reflect the type of mindset they need, and follow that flow when we tackle them.
Take the time to do the brain dump. Put it all out on the paper so you don’t waste energy holding onto something in your mind.
Start to put things into buckets that make sense to you.
☎️ phone calls
🚙 errands
💻 things to order
🎨 play time
Then decide which ones need to be done in the near term, which can wait a little bit and which are ones you can peck away at or save for a different season.
By deciding when things will get done helps take the overwhelm out of it when we think it all needs done NOW.
Focus on what you’ve decided will get done now. Take action based on what you are in the mood for.
And leave the rest. The list isn’t going anywhere (for better or worse).
Revisit and adjust your list as needed.
And take a breath.
You’ve got this.
