An Unlikely Moment of Personal Growth

Now, normally puke is not something that you would call a good thing...

And at 3 a.m. this past week, I didn't necessarily either.

As a mom of a 6 & 8 year old, this was just my 2nd experience with a sick kid (amazing, I know). And just like that time, it was a one-and-done expulsion.

Buuuut this time had the added twist of-

  • 3 a.m.

  • unexpectedness

  • ALL over the bathroom floor

So just exactly how is this a win?

With all of the work I've put into knowing myself better, deeply, is that it fills me with confidence when I can draw upon that knowledge and use it.

Between the practices I put into the Illumination Kit and learning more about my Human Design (a woo-y journey of self-knowing that I'll share more about soon-ish), I know that I do well in a crisis.

Scratch that, I know I am amazing in a crisis.

I have plenty of evidence of it through my life, for moments big and small, where I have tapped into a part of myself that can see the situation clearly and guided the way through. It has happened during moments of medical crisis and navigating unexpected bumps in the road at home and work. It wasn’t until I did the work to reflect on all of my skills, abilities and experiences to piece these moments together and see the throughline that ties them all together as a skillset I inherently have within me.

So when the surprise puke hit the floor, the plan of action came together without a second thought.

It wasn't easy. It was SO gross. I certainly don't want to have a repeat performance.

But taking a moment to look back and reframe the experience, I can see it was a messy reminder of how I can do hard things. How when I don't overthink it and just do what my inner knowing guides me to do, I can do it with relative ease.

Maybe showing up in a crisis isn't your thing.

But I know that you have a special way that you are designed to show up in this world. And it's time for the world to see you glow.

So while middle of the night puke isn't something most people would consider as evidence of their awesomeness, I'm seeing it as evidence of unlocking new achievement in my life's journey toward embodying all of the magic within me.

And I hope it inspires you to do the same. Here’s to living a life that lights you up!
